Every kid loves to enact someone else or act in a particular manner like he hasn't before, and participation in drama's in school as well as in classes are the way they can fulfill their fantasy of acting. A Career in Music

Although becoming a musician is a risk, and very unorthodox, the rewards are big and if you really are passionate about music, it is not impossible to make a career as a musician. You need to live music, breathe music and love music, to be successful as a musician.

Music is a very lucrative career and there are a lot of talented people that pursue it. You need to believe in yourself and remain persistent, as making a name is not at all easy and it requires a lot of hard work, effort and a little bit of luck. There are a lot of ways in which you can make people more aware about your music and try to establish a name for yourself. Here are some tips to help YOU become the NEXT BIG THING:

1) Technology is Cool...Use it!!!

Thank god for the internet, should be in your prayers everyday, as this is the one medium, with which you can showcase your talent and your music to millions of people across the world. With blogs, video streaming sites like Youtube, podcast's and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and thousands of other tools, you can create your own music and share it with the world.

2) 3..2..1..You are now LIVE!

When you are beginning a career in Music, you cannot be lazy or shy. You need to keep playing gigs live for whatever reasons. Get your music out to people, as word of mouth is still the best form of publicity. Play live at everything possible for you, sometimes it doesn't matter if you are getting paid, you need to meet the right kind of people, and start getting into the whole music scene. By constantly playing live gigs, people become more and more aware and before you even realize, you will have a lot of fans, as everyone loves and listens to music.

3) Be with your Instrument, till death do you apart!

Know your instrument inside-out, left, right and center. You do not want to screw up in front of people, and nor do you want people to think you are not talented. You need to be married to your instrument, and know every tune, every cord and everything about it. Keep practicing, cover songs by other artists and make your own, but just constantly be at it.

4) DO NOT COPY!!

One of the most important lessons to learn when trying for a career in music, is to be original. Do not be a ripoff of some other talented band or musician, as it will come back to haunt you. Being yourself is very important in this industry and copying others is generally not going to get you places.

5) DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF!!

Another important thing to do, is always copyright your own material, so if anyone uses it illegally or without your permission, you can sue them. Another good part of copyrighting you music, is that if someone wants to use it for a television show, or for a concert, video, etc. you can get paid a premium for it.

We hope you achieve your musical aspirations and really put in an effort, towards this field as a career.

Hobbies for Students: Music

Music is one of the best hobbies you can take up whilst you are studying in school. Music is a part of everyone's lives, and each one has their own personal choices. Learning a musical instrument is an amazing experience and it teaches you a lot apart from just music. You learn to create, visualize and express yourself.

As Bob Marley said, "The one good thing about music, is that when it hits you, you feel no pain."

It's important to develop a taste in music from when you are young, and who knows, by the time you've grown up, you could be the next big thing. There are various various reasons, both scientific and behavioral  as to why you should take up music from an early age. These are:

1) Children can play and enjoy their own music. While they may not develop professional talent, they will gain an understanding of music that will help them relax in the future. As they get older, consider music lessons. Qualified instructors can teach children how to play the piano, guitar, violin etc. a skill that they can use for life.

2) Music helps develop children's language skills: When young children listen to familiar words in songs, the neural transmitters in their brains are firing away, and their brains are building connections to the sounds they are hearing and the words they are singing. Singing songs and reciting poems and rhymes with children helps them develop early literacy skills.

3) Music is a wonderful way to address the many needs of children because music is nonjudgmental. There is no right or wrong, it just is what it is. Listening to different types of music nurtures self-esteem and encourages creativity, self-confidence, and curiosity.

4) Music encourages the ability to listen and thus to concentrate. Songs encourage speech and auditory discrimination. Through music, children learn to hear tempos, dynamics, and melodies. Listening for loud and soft, up and down, fast and slow encourages auditory development in the brain.

5) Music helps stimulate children's brain connections: A recent study from the University of California found that music trains the brain for higher forms of thinking. For example, researchers believe that music affects spatial-temporal reasoning (the ability to see part-whole relationships).

A study conducted by psychologist Frances Rauscher of the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh and physicist Gordon Shaw of the University of California at Irvine specifically links the study of music to necessary brain development. They demonstrated that preschoolers who were given early exposure to complex multi-sensory stimulation—in this case, musical keyboard lessons and group singing—scored higher on tests measuring spatial reasoning, a skill used later in math, science, and engineering.

Thus, music is a really cool and fun hobby to explore and we hope you begin playing your first musical instrument.

Greatest Indian Stories

We've emphasized all week on the importance and value of learning our amazingly rich and beautiful Indian languages. Today, we'll speak about some of the best and most important literary contributions by India, and which language they were written in. Although there are so many millions of books and written works, there are a few which have been monumental to our country and the people. These books are:

1) The Vedas

The Vedas are a sacred collection of texts, originating in Ancient India. The language of the Vedas is the oldest form of Sanskrit, and these Vedas contain the oldest Hindu scriptures. The Vedic texts are organized as :

a) The Rigveda
b) The Yajurveda
c) The Samaveda
d) The Atharvaveda

They say that The Vedas are not written by Human Beings, but by a divine origin, and that is why these texts are so special and amazingly accurate in this modern day and age as well.

2) Ramayana

One of the Sanskrit epics, The Ramayana forms a really important part of the Hindu religion. The Ramayana has ideal characters, like the ideal father, ideal brother, ideal servant etc, and revolves around Ram, whose wife Sita gets kidnapped by Ravana. This is an epic tale and a definite must-read for anyone who hasn't read it yet. Reading it in the original would be best, but also would be really time consuming and difficult, not to worry though, there are tons of translations available and you will definitely get it in the language of your choice.

3) Mahabharata

This is another Sanskrit epic, and is one of the most influential books in the world. The values and philosophies are used in board-rooms even today, and they teach us so many different and unique values and lessons for life. It depicts the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kauravas and Pandavas in a spectacular manner. and this book is also a must read and available in all translations.

These three books are India's pride and glory when it comes to literature and we really hope you take the effort to at least read the translations, as there are a lot of lessons to learn from there stories.

Why you should learn Tamil?

Tamil, is a Dravidian Language, which is predominantly spoken by the Tamil people of South India and North East Sri Lanka, and it is the national language of Sri Lanka as well. The Tamil language has been declared as a classical language by the government of India in 2004, and is one of the most culturally rich languages in existence.

Tamil, is truly a beautiful language, and it is one of the oldest and longest lasting classical languages of the world. It has been described as "the only language of contemporary India which is recognizably continuous with a classical past" (Kamil Zvelebil, The Smile of Murugan Leiden 1973, p11-12). The Tamil language has the richest and most amazing pieces of literature and art which would be best to read originally rather than a translation.

Along with this, Tamil is truly a unique language of India, since it is not derived from Sanskrit. Its literature arose and became popular in the South before Sanskrit, and thus is content wise much different from what we may have read in the other languages. The Tamil language has its own grammatical rules, its own tradition and above all, its own unique brand of literature and art.
