You have prepared for your exams, kept to your timetable and revised thoroughly. All that’s left is the actual exam itself. It’s natural to be nervous or anxious as you have put a lot of hard work into this.
Here are some tips and tricks for the actual exam itself:
1) This may seem very obvious, but there are students who have prepared for the wrong exam and have suffered as a result. MAKE SURE you know which exam is when. Keep your timetable printed and on your study desk so you can keep checking when the next exam is, what time it is and which subject it is. This is a must for every student.
2) Secondly, if you have prepared as per your time-table and are confident with your work, you do not need to study all night. Instead sleep early and wake up early in the morning for a final revision and go for your exam. This will keep you fresh as well as prepared for the day.
3) Have everything ready before you sleep. For example, you may need a ruler and geometry box if its your maths paper or maybe a calculator. Make sure everything is packed before you sleep, so in the morning you are not stressed, you just need to revise and leave for the exam.
4) Leave for the exam early, so if you do get stuck in traffic or something unexpected happens you do not get stressed minutes before your paper.
5) Once you are in the exam hall, and you feel your mind going blank, DO NOT PANIC. Take a minute, relax, take deep breaths and remember that you are well prepared and have nothing to fear.
6) While writing your paper, make sure to read each question very carefully as you may miss something out. You do not want to give an incomplete answer despite knowing it.
7) After the exam is over, it’s tempting to think about all the answers you gave and if they were good enough. This will only stress you further. Try to forget about the last exam, and focus on the next one, instead.
8) And lastly, just be calm. Examination success or failure, is not the end of the world. Bill Gates was a drop out, but he is still one of the most successful people in the world. Just be calm, stay confident and write your exams.
