Make History Interesting

A lot of people find history boring or don't understand why they have to study something that has already happened and is done and over with. But, believe it or not, history is a vast subject and is actually really important for the world as well as really interesting.

Today we'll talk about why we should study history and the posts after will teach you ways in which you can make this fascinating subject come to life and actually enjoy it. We hope for you to have fun while studying history.

Why study history??

People live in the present and plan for the future, that what has happened in the past very seldom concerns us. Given the difficulties of today's time and the world's situation currently, history is given very less significance. So, why should you study history??

Well, history is actually very useful, only the results are usually less tangible than other professions. History should be studied because it is important to people and to society. It teaches us how we as individuals and groups came into being. It teaches us why we are, what we are, and why we do, what we do.

Understanding People and Societies

History offers a bank of very insightful information about the behavior of people and society's.
How can we evaluate a war coming, if someone is at peace now? How can we come to know the role of beliefs in peoples lives? By historical materials.

Consequently, history must serve, however imperfectly, as our laboratory, and data from the past must serve as our most vital evidence in our  never-ending quest to figure out why our complex species behaves as it does in societal settings. This, fundamentally, is why history is needed and is a part of us.

History Helps Us Understand Change

The second reason history is an essential subject follows pretty closely to the first. The past causes the present, which in turn causes the future. Any time we try to know why something happened—whether a shift in political party dominance in India, a major change in the teenage suicide rate, or a war in the Balkans or the Middle East—we have to look for factors that took shape earlier, to realize fully, why its happening now. Sometimes fairly recent history will suffice to explain a major development, but often we need to look further back to identify the causes of change. Only through studying history can we grasp how things change; only through history can we begin to comprehend the factors that cause change; and only through history can we understand what elements of an institution or a society persist despite change.

Interacting with others

We interact with other people on a daily basis. As we usually know the history about their society, we know how and when to interact with them.

In a country like India, which is so diverse in terms of demographics, we should know how to behave with different kinds of people. If we want to live life in harmony and want to avoid devastating events like the Hindu-Muslim riots and other such catastrophes we should know the history of different communities and avoid offending others.

Such riots, as depicted in the picture, should never be repeated:
